THE NEXT GENERATION OF ASTERIS

For more than two decades, Asteris has built the imaging technology veterinary teams rely on. NewLumen is what comes next: a modern, cloud-native platform shaped by everything we have learned about veterinary imaging and designed for the future of clinical review, collaboration and diagnosis.

Keystone will continue to run alongside NewLumen, giving current customers the flexibility to move when the time is right.

Imaging without boundaries

Built for every team, site and specialty.

  • Cloud imaging without the server room: Store and access studies securely without maintaining an on-site PACS server or dedicated imaging workstation.
  • Connect the equipment already in the practice: Radiography, ultrasound, CT and dental systems connect through standard DICOM push.
  • Bring imaging into every consultation: Open studies in the exam room, treatment area or remotely through a browser, with no viewer software or VPN required.
  • Specialist review, fully connected: Send studies directly for radiologist review and receive the finalized report back within the same patient workflow.
For general practice
  • The full toolset in Chrome or Edge: no workstation, no VPN, no install.
  • One login, one viewer, one signed report: every clinic in one queue, and signing means it’s delivered.
  • The queue manages itself: species-tagged layouts, urgent cases surface first, priors sit beside the new study.
For radiologists
  • One login, every client clinic: a STAT case from any clinic lands in the same queue as a routine study from any other.
  • Routing runs itself: cases distribute by priority, modality, and assignment; unclaimed STATs escalate on SLA automatically.
  • You stay in control: reassign any case, manage your own roster, and trace every claim and priority change in the activity trail.
  • Month-end in one export: sign-date-accurate billing rolls up across every clinic; signed reports deliver themselves.
For teleradiology groups
  • One workspace, every institution: every study tagged to its site, the whole network on one shared account.
  • Consistent reads across every reader: species-tagged protocols and macros mean the same layout and report structure everywhere.
  • Oversight without account switching: department heads filter by site and see every queue in one view.
  • Scales with the network: per-clinic scheduling, enterprise-guided onboarding, and an edge gateway for high-volume sites.
For academic networks
  • One account, every location — a study submitted at a satellite is available at the referral centre instantly, with billing rolled up in one export.
  • Nothing to install anywhere — the viewer runs in Chrome or Edge at every site, no VPN for radiologists reading across locations.
  • Configure once, everywhere — protocols, macros, and scheduling managed centrally; new sites inherit your setup automatically.
  • Cases route by expertise, not availability — matched to the right species or modality reader across your network.
For multi-site practices
The Complete Platform

Every stage of imaging, finally connected.

  • Workstation-grade reading in Chrome or Edge: no plugin, no install; studies that take minutes on a desktop PACS open in seconds.
  • Species-aware from study open: vet-native hanging protocols apply automatically, even with inconsistent DICOM tags, and priors surface without searching.
  • MPR and 3D as first-class modes: one click from the layout switcher, reconstructions in under three seconds, rotate 3D right in the browser.
  • Full reading-room toolset: multi-monitor, synchronized viewports, measurement and annotation suite, cine playback, and echo cineloop.
Explore viewing
  • Stop at the diagnosis, not the documentation: species-tagged templates are pre-selected the moment a canine, feline, or equine study opens.
  • Macros kill the boilerplate: species-tagged shortcuts (nchest, nabd, necho) put the right text one keystroke away; Report Assist structures Findings, Impression, and Recommendations.
  • Intake to signed report, one system: DICOM push in, routing by priority and modality, reading, reporting, and sign-off with no manual handoffs.
  • Signing does the delivery: the report locks, timestamps for billing, and routes back to the referring practice automatically.
Explore reporting
  • One filterable worklist: every clinic, status and priority in one queue, from intake through final report.
  • Routing runs itself: cases distribute by priority, modality and assignment; unclaimed STATs escalate on SLA automatically.
  • Full control when you need it: reassign any case and trace every claim and priority change in the activity trail.
  • Month-end in one export: sign-date-accurate billing rolls up across every clinic into one CSV.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

NewLumen is fully cloud-hosted and does not require an on-site PACS server or dedicated imaging workstation. Studies move from the modality into secure cloud storage, while Asteris manages the platform infrastructure, backups and updates.

The viewer runs entirely in Chrome or Edge, so there is no desktop software, plug-in, site-specific client or VPN to install before reading.

NewLumen accepts studies from any DICOM-compliant modality or PACS, including radiography, ultrasound, CT and dental systems, using standard DICOM push.

A large CT study can load in seconds, compared with up to 45 minutes on a traditional PACS. Images stream securely from the cloud on demand, without waiting for a full local download or synchronization.

Implementation is phased around the practice’s preferred timeline. Existing modalities connect through standard DICOM push, historical studies can be migrated and the team can begin reading through the browser without replacing imaging equipment.

Authorized users can access NewLumen from any supported device with a browser and secure login, whether they are working from another location, at home or on the road.

NewLumen focuses on speed, cloud access and workflow rather than automated diagnosis, so it will not make diagnostic calls for you. Today, AI shows up mainly in reporting: Report Assist structures every report into Findings, Impression and Recommendations, so you can focus on your observations and sign faster. Species-tagged protocols and report macros also cut repetitive setup by applying the right hanging protocol and report scaffold for each modality and species.

Pricing is based on study volume, modality and study size, with repeat studies for the same patient within 24 hours charged only once. Contact [email protected] for a quote based on the practice’s imaging mix.

Yes. NewLumen is priced per study rather than per seat, allowing authorized veterinarians and technicians to access the platform without additional user licensing fees.

A study can be submitted to a radiologist directly from NewLumen. Once the report is signed, the practice receives an email notification, the completed report is available as a PDF with its full addendum history and connected practice management systems can receive it automatically.

Data is hosted regionally and continuously backed up in the cloud. NewLumen also supports secure login, multi-factor authentication and role-based access controls to protect patient and practice information.

NewLumen uses retain-by-default storage, which means studies are not automatically removed after a fixed period. Prior imaging remains accessible for future comparison, while frequently referenced studies remain optimized for faster retrieval.

For Keystone users

Already reading with Keystone?

NewLumen brings a new cloud-native experience to the Asteris ecosystem, while keeping the workflows and expertise radiologists already know. Here are answers to the questions Keystone users ask most.

No. Keystone remains fully supported and actively developed by Asteris. NewLumen expands what Asteris can offer, giving practices another option as their imaging needs evolve.

NewLumen was built for practices managing larger studies, higher case volumes and more complex workflows. It provides a faster, more flexible platform that is ready to grow when your practice is.

No. There is no required move or cutover date. Keystone and NewLumen will continue to run alongside each other, so practices can explore NewLumen and decide what works best for their team.

Your Keystone archive remains accessible. The Asteris team will work with your practice to ensure historical studies and priors remain available as part of your imaging workflow.

Yes. NewLumen is a new platform, but it has been shaped by the workflows Asteris customers already rely on. Hanging protocols, reporting preferences and other configurations can be set up during onboarding to support the way your team works.

NewLumen brings faster performance, advanced browser-based imaging including MPR and 3D, streamlined case management and reporting, built-in teleconsultation and unified worklists for multi-site teams.

The Asteris team will guide your practice through setup, configuration and onboarding. Keystone remains fully supported throughout, so there is no need for an abrupt change.
