What are reporting macros?
Macros are pre-built text blocks that populate relevant sections of a report based on the study type and species. In NewLumen, macros are species-tagged, and the relevant macro is automatically surfaced based on the study's DICOM header. You select it with a shortcut, edit as needed, and move on.
Does Report Assist write the radiology report for me?
No. Report Assist drafts the structure and pre-populates relevant sections based on the study's species and modality. The radiologist makes all clinical observations and diagnostic judgments, then signs the final report.
Can I create custom report templates?
Templates are configurable. Speak to us during a demo about your reporting requirements and template setup.
Do templates work across all modalities?
Yes. Templates auto-recommend for CT, MR, CR, DX, and US. Each template includes the standard sections for that modality.
Can I create my own macros?
A personal macro library is available. System macros for the most common vet reporting scenarios ship built in.
Can I view the study while writing the report?
Yes. Open the viewer alongside the report from any screen using the Open Viewer link. Captured images paste directly into findings.
How are completed reports delivered to referring practices?
Signed reports are delivered directly from NewLumen to the referring practice without manual export or file attachments. Delivery includes a link-based email notification, a rendered PDF, and, for connected practice management systems, automated delivery, all built into the sign-off workflow.
What does case management cover in NewLumen?
The full lifecycle from study intake through report delivery: DICOM receipt, priority triage, worklist routing, reading, reporting, sign-off, and delivery to the referring practice.
How does routing work?
For teleradiology groups, algorithmic routing distributes cases by priority, modality, and assignment; configuration is set up with the NewLumen team. For single-reader setups, cases arrive directly in the worklist.

Are prior reports accessible when a patient returns?
