What Is StableTrack? The Equine Practice Platform From Asteris

Summary

StableTrack is cloud-based practice management built only for equine veterinarians, and it is made by Asteris. It runs in the browser on desktop, tablet and phone with no installation, has a companion iOS app, and keeps working offline on farm calls. One system covers the day from booking to paid invoice: scheduling, horse records, AI-drafted SOAP notes the vet reviews, billing, truck inventory and, for practices on Keystone PACS, imaging orders and reports on the horse's record. The full product lives at stabletrack.ai.

Why did Asteris build a practice management platform for equine vets?

Asteris has worked in veterinary imaging for more than 20 years, much of it alongside equine practices. Most practice software assumes a small animal clinic with a front desk. Equine work happens in barns and trucks. Horses have several owners, trainers and insurers. Signal drops out on the way to the yard.

The vets we asked said the same. In a StableTrack survey of 49 veterinary professionals at the AAEP Convention in December 2025, 53% of respondents described their practice as ambulatory, 78% rated their current practice management system 3 out of 5 or below, and offline or poor connectivity was the most common complaint in the comments. StableTrack was built around those conditions rather than adapted to them.

What does StableTrack do?

Scheduling built around barn visits. Each provider has a calendar column, and Barn Visit and Clinic are built-in appointment types. You can book for one patient, an owner, or a whole barn, and block out vacations, clinic closures and equipment.

A horse record that fits horses. Height in hands, sex as mare, gelding, colt, filly or stallion, registered name, discipline, Coggins status, insurance, microchip and PEI number. A horse can have up to five owners and five trainers, with ownership percentages, including co-owners at zero percent.

AI SOAP notes the vet signs off. Dictate the visit and StableTrack drafts a structured SOAP note, with Plan sub-blocks. Four exam templates are built in: Pre-Purchase Exam, Dental Examination with an interactive dental chart, Lameness Evaluation and General Wellness. The vet reviews every draft before it is saved, and the AI does not diagnose or make clinical decisions. The same assistant books appointments, creates invoices and drafts discharge summaries by voice or text. See StableTrack's equine SOAP notes software for how a note comes together.

Billing for barns with several owners. One service entry across the horses selected at a barn creates one invoice per owner, splitting a horse with two owners into two invoices. Invoices link to the appointment, clients pay by card or ACH through Stripe, payments sync to QuickBooks Online, and monthly client statements can go out by email automatically.

Truck inventory and dispensing. Items dispensed in the field come off the vet's assigned truck by default. Take-home prescriptions bill to the visit invoice, and dispensing a registered controlled substance creates the logbook entry automatically, with witnessed entries queued for sign-off.

How does StableTrack work without signal?

Offline mode runs on desktop and on the iOS app. Records, SOAP drafts, appointments, and cash or check payments can be created with no signal and sync when the connection comes back. The one thing that waits for signal is the AI drafting itself: offline, your dictation is saved on the device and the note is drafted once you are back online. The StableTrack mobile and offline app page shows how a farm call runs from the truck.

How does StableTrack connect to Asteris imaging?

This is where StableTrack and the rest of Asteris meet. For practices that use Keystone PACS, imaging orders go from the horse's StableTrack record to the Keystone worklist, and reports and thumbnails come back to the chart. Studies open in Keystone Omni from the record, so the vet does not search a second system for the same horse. For pre-purchase exams and sales work, the Keystone Equine Repository handles sharing studies with buyers, agents and insurers. The detail is on the StableTrack and Asteris Keystone integration page.

What does StableTrack cost?

One plan: $199 per month per practice, with unlimited users and every feature included. The best way to see whether it fits is a demo on your own workflow: book a StableTrack demo and we will walk through a barn visit, a SOAP note and an invoice.
